The Leader of the SPLM/A in Opposition Dr. Riek Machar Teny will “very soon” return to South Sudan to work with President Salva Kiir Mayardit, Dhieu Mathok, Deputy Leader of SPLM/A IO Advance Team told St. Joseph’s congregation in Juba yesterday.

“I want to bring to you the message of the peace from my Chairman, Commander in Chief, Dr. Riek Machar, and he will be in this Country very soon in order to work together with comrade Salva in order to bring peace to our nation,” said Mathok, who is also Secretary General of the SPLM- in Opposition.

He remarked that the government and SPLM/A IO “realized that the war was an evil act” which must be stopped.

“The South Sudan Bishop Council was right when they described the senseless war being fought in It is indeed an evil act,” Mathok said.

He appealed to South Sudanese, “especially the members of SPLM-IO” to embrace reconciliation, arguing that the Country urgently needs peace.

“We are here now for the peace. But also remember, as believers the Bible teaches us that there is a time for everything. There is a time for war; there is a time for peace. Now this is a time for peace and I want to call [upon] all South Sudanese, especially the members of SPLM-IO that: let us reconcile with our brothers and sisters. This is our Country; we need very urgent peace,” stated the Advance Team deputy leader to a loud applause from the congregation.

  1. I believe this is very good time for peace to come back to our country. Dear all friends who are staying in juba plus our SPLM-IO who are already in juba last 2week ago. I request you to helping our country to be in peace by prayer. and I request again Gen Kiir mayardit to give the country a bit of peace and also not to talk about what is not in peace agreement.

  2. Peace must be embraced with an implicit care as long Kiir is still a president and that his tribal cohorts are still recruiting another tribal militias who have now been surrounded Juba outskirts. These tribal militias have been trained and heavily armed with the Russian made chemical weapons which were brought to South Sudan through Uganda. Theses murderous weapons are now stored in Luri, Paloch and other secretive areas where the tribal militia trainings are taking place. Is this not an erroneous if Kiir says there while trained another tribal militias and created unpopular demands of 28 tribal states?
