Riek Machar, leader of South Sudan rebels group, has appointed a new representative to the United Nations, suggesting that the earlier representative Miyong Kuon may have changed side.

Machar has been experiencing a wave of defections from his side as a result of competition for support from among his supporters with his successor, Taban Deng Gai, who portray himself as the leader of the group.

According to a January 9th, 2017, order, Machar named   Ukuni Michael Paulino as the new representative to the United Nations. The new official would be required to stay at the headquarters of the United Nations in order to be following developments which take place there and propose and bring to the attention of the representatives of the world leaders.
