It has come to our attention that the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) regime in Juba, after having suffered a humiliating and devastating defeat by the gallant SPLA (IO) forces in the Maiwut and Pagak fighting, has now resorted to secretly bribing, recruiting and enlisting vulnerable young school children in the United Nations Protection of Civilians (POC) sites in Makal (Malakal), Bentiu, Bor and Wau respectively to be trained and used as foot soldiers and fighters in the ongoing Juba regime offensive across South Sudan.
The ongoing bribing, recruitment and enlistment of these vulnerable young school children in IDP Protection Sites is being personally directed by Taban Deng Gai (TDG), JCE’s agent of instability and destabilization, and implemented by his naira-minded lieutenants from these respective areas.
In the case of Makal POC, a team under the leadership and supervision of Major General Obech Pagar, Colonel Omut Amum and Colonel Pollino Onyowa has been actively sneaking into this POC site, bribing, arming and relocating these very young Chollo youths to Detang where Salva Kiir Mayardit (SKM) and Taban Deng Gai (TDG) have established a training camp.
These Juba regime activities within the United Nations POC sites should once again serve as a reminder to South Sudanese, the African Union (AU), the United Nations (UN) and indeed the international community that the ethnocentric Jieng Council of Elders (JCE) regime in Juba, under Salva Kiir Mayardit, as opposed to SPLM-SPLA (IO) under Dr Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon, is and will always be completely opposed to ending the war in South Sudan.
We in the SPLM-SPLA (IO) strongly condemn these activities, and call upon the United Nations, the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other international human rights organisations to intervene by stopping these insidious Juba regime bribing and recruitment activities, and holding the notorious person of Taban Deng Gai (TDG) and his lieutenants responsible for the escalation of violence and worsening humanitarian situation in South Sudan.
