Breaking News: Salva Kirr wants to step down over feud with UN, but Dinka Council of Elders say No

August 24, 2017, South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit wish to step-down has been refused by the Jieng Council of Elders according to a senior government official in Juba.

The anonymous official who prefers to remain anonymous revealed that early this month President Kiir had optioned to relinquish power in order to pursuit a proper medical care abroad. However, his political advisor committee, the Jieng Council of Elder, which is a self-appointed ethnic group that advice the government on policymaking has reached a decision on Monday to abnegate Kiir’s application. Outcome of the request was released yesterday after 3 weeks of close-door scrutiny.

The official alleged that the presidential advisors were unable to find a suitable candidate that would nevigate the country out from current situation.
