UN defies closures of its Radio Miraya and said it must remain on air

March 9, 2018, JUBA: UN defies Radio Miraya’s suspension, says the radio will continue to broadcast.

The UN has defied a suspension order by the National Media Authority that ordered its radio to cease broadcasting.

Associated Press quoted UNMISS spokeswoman Francesca Mold saying that the UN was in talks with the government and that they radio will not stop broadcasting.

It nearly impossible for the government to shut the radio station unless they invade the UN base where Radio Miraya’s transmitter is located.

At the time of reporting the radio was still on air.
